Arctic Acro Team is happy to be invited as sponsored pilots to the 2011 Ghana Paragliding festival. We will be going back with our x-plore.no tandems. Last years festival was epic and we can´t wait to go back! The festival will be even bigger than last year and all the pilots have started to do fundracing for the local community.

Winter time and speedriding.

The new speedriding equipment is waiting in my room. Lots of steep backountry in the Northern Norway to explore! Please bring more snow and I will carve it up! A Nano 10.5m2 glider and Armada JJ skis will be the setup for this winter.

The photo is taken from Harstad city. Grytaya is one of the speedriding places to go this winter.

Acro training in Aurland

About 15 acro pilots and some free-flyers enjoyed beautiful Aurland this weekend. Lots of acro flying and shaken nerves on landing. (Everyone was trying to get the winter rust shaken off). I finally got to know my new Sol Super Sonic and after 4200m of acro meters I'm confident that we will have lots of fun together this summer! Frode, I'm sorry that you did not make this weekend, as it was "super sweet."

12 pilots were invited to jump from the helicopter at 1400m by the organizers .
The audience voted and here are the results:

Paraglid airThe preparation period was finally over and I am was confident that our setup would work. I chose the Gradient Aspen 2 freestyle 20m2, delivered by ParaglidAir, for the event.

The Helmet cam film is uploaded to YouTube.

My friend Riaan was chasing me with Andrew in his trike. This is his extended film

Ready for Take off

Take-off following a 30 minutes climb where 3 cameras fails! Luckily we had a backup cam in the chase trike. (you always need a backup plan)

Ready

At 8700f, we are well above the CU´s and the scenery was amazing! The climb/exit out of the dragonfly went 100% according to the plan. And I am getting ready to pull the action pin.

Waiting for the glider to open........ 90deg twist to the left due to wind catching my feet ( The hang point were 10deg to the left) The canopy opened very fast and the adrenaline was pumping:)

7800f of acro fun on the way down over one of the flattest places on earth. What a brilliant way of getting proper acro height.

Special thanks to:

  • Riaan Nieuwoudt
  • Kieron Nieuwoudt
  • Andrew (Trike pilot)
  • Sid (Dragon fly Pilot)
  • Shaun
  • And the rest:D
